This summer I stayed in grand old Lexington and got involved at Actor's Guild. In partnership with the Lexington Public Library we began a new program titled "Page to Stage" in which we met with high school students over the course of two months to adapt a novel (Chris Crutcher's "The Sledding Hill") to the stage. The program was under the direction of Julieanne Pogue with yours truly as intern director. The kids got involved in all aspects of production from acting to design, and at the end of the project we put the play up for two nights in the library theatre (I have it on DVD if anyone wants to see what we did). We're currently in the process of creating a Youth Company at AGL from the excitement generated by this project. If you want to know more about or know a high schooler in Lexington who might be interested just come talk to me!
I worked as a props intern at Mill Mountain Theatre in Roanoke, VA this summer. It was cool to be 1 of 2 people in the department. Lots of hands-on work and fun people. 3 shows including 2 of which I got to assistant design and props artisan on all 3. It's a totally different world to work at a year-round theatre as a summer intern instead of just summer stock.
Last summer was Berkshire Theatre Festival as a Gen Tech Intern. Also fabulous for different reasons.
Anyone who's interested in knowing more, just come talk to me!
I worked as the Costume Designer for Acadia Repertory Theater located on Mount Desert Island, Maine. This was my second summer as Costume Designer for Acadia Rep and it was definitely more challenging this time. I desinged 5 shows, four mainstage and the children's show, Charlotte's Web (in which I also played Wilbur, the pig) Acadia Rep is a relatively small theater, so everyone does everything there. As well as costume design, I sewed, pulled, altered, fixed, and fought costumes, acted as backstage run-crew for both costumes and props, ushered, and parked cars!
